NEW LIFT FACILITY FOR PASSENGERS AT BASIN BRIDGE RAILWAY STATION

Continuing its efforts of providing better amenities and facilities to rail passengers, Chennai Division of Southern Railway has commissioned two new lifts with all safety features for the convenience of commuters at Basin Bridge Railway Station, today (01.07.2022). These two lifts were procured and commissioned at a cost of Rs.80 lakhs with a carrying capacity of 13 persons. The newly commissioned lifts will bring much needed relief for the commuters, especially physically challenged, senior citizens and pregnant ladies to reach Platform/concourse/exit areas with ease.

These new lifts were installed o­n Platform Nos. 2 & 3 at Foot Over Bridge (FOB) which will connect passengers to the FOB leading to Platform Nos. 6 & 7.

At Present, 40 lifts at 21 stations and 55 escalators at 18 stations are functioning within the jurisdiction of Chennai Division. In addition, 2 more escalators have been planned for commissioning at Chengalpattu and Arakkonam in this Financial Year.

Moreover, the work of installing new lifts at Chennai Egmore, Villivakkam, Ambattur, Korattur, Tiruninravur, Chrompet, Ponneri, Washermanpet and Royapuram Railway stations, is also progressing quickly.

Resumption of Daily MEMU Suburban services



As approved by the Railway Board, the following Daily MEMU Suburban train will be resume services as detailed below.


Train No. 66003 / 66004 Chennai Central (Moore Market Complex) – Avadi – Chennai Central (MMC) Daily MEMU Suburban train


Train No. 66003 Chennai Central (Moore Market Complex) – Avadi Daily MEMU Suburban train will leave Chennai Central (MMC) at 21.15 hrs o­n and from 27th June, 2022 o­nwards and reach Avadi at 22.00 hrs the same day.


Similarly, Train No. 66004 Avadi – Chennai Central (MMC) Daily MEMU Suburban train will leave Avadi at 06.40 hrs o­n and from 27th June, 2022 o­nwards and reach Chennai Central (MMC) at 07.35 hrs the same day.


Stoppages:Chennai Central (MMC), Basin Bridge Jn, Vyasarpadi Jeewa, Perambur, Perambur Carriage Works, Perambur Loco Works, Villivakkam, Korattur, Pattaravakkam, Ambattur, Thirumullaivoil, Annanur and Avadi.
