REGULATION OF TRAINS FOR BRIDGE MAINTENANCE WORK IN EAST CENTRAL RAILWAY

Kolkata, May 10, 2022:

 

For maintenance of bridge no 1 in between Samastipur & Muktapur stations, 06.00 hours (09:45 hrs. to 14.45 hrs.) Traffic & Power block has been planned o­n 14.05.2022 (Saturday) & 17.05.2022 (Tuesday). Consequently, 13043 Howrah - Raxaul Express (Journey Commencing o­n 13.05.2022) & 17005 Hyderabad Decan - Raxaul Express (Journey Commencing o­n 12.05.2022) will be diverted via Samastipur - Muzaffarpur - Sitamarhi instead of Samastipur - Darbhanga - Sitamarhi and 15553 Bhagalpur- Jaynagar Express (Journey Commencing o­n 14.05.2022) will be rescheduled by 120 minutes from Bhagalpur.

Inconvenience caused to the passengers is deeply regretted.

CONSTRUCTION OF LIMITED HEIGHT SUBWAY AT LEVEL CROSSING NO.135 o­n BIRUR- CHIKJAJURSECTION OF MYSURU DIVISION OF SWR DURING COVID-19 LOCKDOWN


 

SWR is working round the clock during lockdown to ensure that all safety and maintenance work are taken-up o­n its rail network. The Covid-19 Pandemic has frozen the country during the lockdown, but the national carrier continues to work carrying out all priority and urgent works. Railway workforce continues to work round the clock by running freight and parcel trains to reach essential goods, commodities and medical items across the country.

 Safety at level crossing is o­ne of the priority items of Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble MoSR.As directed by Hon’ble MoSR all safety and maintenance works are being taken up during the extended Lockdown. This is a step towards Railways mission of eliminating LC gates and ensuring safety at level crossings. The extended lockdown has provided the opportunity to carry out works without causing inconvenience to the public during the otherwise busy train operations.

The work of construction of Limited Height Subway (LHS) at LC no. 135 between Nagavangala & Ajjampura stations was completed o­n 30.04.2020 and opened to road traffic.This Subway connects two villages Giriyapura and Channapura of Chikkamagaluru District. Construction of limited height subway had been a long pending demand of the people of these two villages.Due to the busy railway crossing gate, road traffic was often closed and general public were faced with difficulty of waiting at this LC tillmovement of train services were completed . The Limited Height Subway (LHS) has been constructed at a cost of Rs.1.9 cr.The construction of Limited Height Subway (LHS) at LC no. 135 will improve mobility and safety in addition to convenience of local public in general.

This Limited Height Subway (LHS) was constructed by insertion of 12 precast RCC boxes duly utilizing traffic block and, construction of wing walls were completed just before declaration of the Lockdown.During the lockdown period, work could be carried o­n without any restriction of traffic blocks and in this period 240 m long approaches were completed. Mysuru Division of SWR executed road work during the lockdown taking permission from the State governmentto collect 4800 bags of cement, 320 MT of steel and daily water required for concrete curing duly maintaining social distancing and all hygienic standards
