Southern Railway conducts a month-long Special Campaign 2.0 focusing Cleanliness of tracks, station approaches, railway stations & yards

Massive Cleanliness campaign conducted in all the 727 railway stations across the zone

30 VIP reference cases were replied and 40 public grievances were disposed

Southern Railway conducted a month-long special cleanliness campaign in October 2022. Ministry of Railways in association with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs  launched the Special campaign 2.0 soon after the culmination of Swachata Pakhwada  on 2nd October 2022, focusing on intensive cleaning of tracks, yards, approaches to railway stations and the premises.  The objective of the drive was to imbibe a sense of civic responsibility among rail users and the general public.

Southern Railway carried out the intensive cleanliness drive at all the 727 railway stations covering all the six divisions such as Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Salem, Madurai, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram.  Workshops and field units also conducted the Cleanliness campaign.    Volunteers, NGOs, School and College Students, Scouts and guides enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drives along with railway employees and conservancy staff.

Vulnerable areas along the tracks and station approaches were identified and intensive cleanliness campaigns were held.    Rail passengers and people living near the tracks were sensitized not to dump garbage on tracks.  In order to effectively dispose of the trash collected, particularly plastic, the conservancy staff at railway  stations were counseled. At railway stations, special emphasis was accorded for mechanized cleaning.

As part of Special Campaign 2.0, 30 VIP reference cases were replied and 40 public grievances were resolved in Southern Railway.

All the Officers and Staff of Southern Railway actively participated in the drive in bringing perceptible changes in the cleanliness levels of railway stations and tracks.  Southern Railway appeals to the rail users to join hands with Railways towards a cohesive approach to promulgate the importance of clean and hygienic railway stations.
