Press Release:ER CONSTRUCTED ANOTHER LIMITED HEIGHT SUBWAY BETWEEN KURMODANGA HALT AND DASKALGRAM STATIONS



Kolkata, February 20, 2023:


In accomplishment of Eastern Railway's mission of increasing sectional speed by replacing level crossings, construction wing of ER's Howrah Division completed the construction work for a Limited Height Subway (LHS) in replacement of Level Crossing Gate No. 10/C between Kurmodanga Halt and Daskalgram stations in Katwa - Ahmadpur section over Howrah Division. The construction work for this LHS completed successfully within the scheduled duration of traffic and power block was taken for this purpose o­n 19.02.2023, which was possible due to better planning and perfect coordination in between various departments of Eastern Railway at work site.

The construction of this Limited Height Subway will not o­nly enhance sectional speed by increasing average speed of Mail/Express as well as Goods trains but also ensure safety for both Rail and Road traffic. Besides, construction of this LHS will provide more operational flexibilities and at the same time it will significantly bring down greenhouse gas in the locality by diminishing bunching of road traffic.

CRS AUTHORIZATION RECEIVED FOR BAZARSAU – CHOWRIGACHHA DOUBLING
•Entire Bazarsau – Azimganj Doubling Project fully completed

Kolkata, February 2, 2023

CRS (Commissioner Railway Safety, Eastern Circle) inspection of doubling work of 7.35 km between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha was completed o­n 1.2.2023 and subsequently authorization has been received from CRS regarding running of trains through the newly incepted double line between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha at a speed of 100 kmph. 

As a part of ER’s continuous endeavour to bring more mobility and flexibility enabling speedy transportation, with the completion of the stretch of doubling between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha, the entire double line project between Bazarsau & Azimganj Jn. (42.15 km) is now fully completed enabling seamless double line movement in entire BAK loop with reduced journey time. This will facilitate capacity enhancement and inception of new trains in future for more convenience of the passengers.

Thus, doubling of Katwa – Azimganj section is totally complete now and this has become a convenient alternative route to Northeastern region, establishing speedy connectivity between southern part of West Bengal to North Bengal and northeastern states. 

It may be noted that, this year (2022-23) Eastern Railway has completed all the six projects with corresponding CRS sanction. Among these, there are three super-critical projects & o­ne critical project which has been successfully completed by Construction Wing of Eastern Railway.
