Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations of Southern Railway

RPF Motorcycle Rally flagged off by General Manager

 Video Wall showcasing RPF’s initiatives to be a part of the rally


Southern Railway is continuously organising a host of events marking ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, 75 golden years of  independent India.  RPF Department of Southern Railway is conducting a number of events throughout the year in commemoration of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.


As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations, Shri B.G. Mallya, General Manager, Southern Railway flagged off a motorcycle rally of Chennai Division RPF personnel, today (4th July 2022), along with Shri Ganesh, DRM, Chennai and Shri G.M.Eswara Rao, IG/RPF and Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Southern Railway. ADRMs, Sr.Divisional Security Commissioner,  Branch officers and Staff of Chennai Division were present o­n the occasion.


The RPF motorcycle rally which commenced today from Chennai Divisional Office will cover 25 railway stations in Chennai Division.  A video wall in an open truck will follow the Motorcycle rally and showcase videos o­n RPF personnel’s concerted efforts in safeguarding rail passengers and highlights of their achievement.


RPF Motorcycle rallies have already been organised by other divisions of Southern Railway, viz., Salem, Madurai, Tiruchchirappalli, Thiruvananthapram and Palakkad.  A total of 75 railway stations in the zone (List attached) will be covered by the members of these RPF Motorcycle rallies covering stations in their divisional jurisdiction. These RPF teams will assemble at Southern Railway headquarters o­n 15th July 2022 and a team will rally to Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad from where all the Railway teams of South India will proceed  to New Delhi.  


At all the 75 stations across Southern Railway which the RPF Motorcycle rally will cover, the RPF officials will organise Tree Plantation drives to plant 75000 saplings and Jal Sewa or Free potable water service for 75 days, in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.  Significantly, RPF personnel will meet and honour the Martyrs of Indian freedom struggle and their families.   These events are being held all over Southern Railway from 1st July, 2022.


Rally from Other locations of the Nation

RPF Motorcycle rallies, flagged off o­n 1st July 2022 from 75 different locations across the country will head towards their Zonal Headquarters at 16 locations and from there, they will move towards the 4 iconic places related to the freedom movement of India - Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar in the North, Bhitiharwa Ashram, Champaran in the East, Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad in the South and Sabarmati Ashram in the West.  Moving from these places the Motorcycle rally will conclude in Delhi.  The teams will  reach New Delhi by August 15th  and participate in the culmination of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav/75th Independence celebrations to be held in the capital.

Felicitating freedom fighters or members of their families to express gratitude for their contribution to freedom struggle

Commemorating India’s 75 year of independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav honours and celebrates the story of India’s freedom struggle. People from across the world are marking this milestone through actions and deeds capturing India’s indomitable spirit and promising future. RPF is also celebrating this campaign which started from 1st June and will conclude o­n 14th August (75 days).

As a part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Motorcycle rallies by RPF personnel from 75 different locations across the country were flagged off o­n 01.07.2022. This rally would head towards their Zonal headquarters at 16 locations and from there, they will move towards the 4 iconic places related to the freedom movement of India i.e.Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar in the North; Bhitiharwa Ashram, Champaran in the East; Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad in the South and Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad in the West. RPF is also organizing a series of other events i.e. Run For Unity, Blood Donation Camps, Cleanliness Drive, Plantation campaigns, Band Shows, etc. associating RPF personnel and the common man as part of these celebrations and spreading the message that the Force stands for security with compassion with an unwavering objective of "सेवा ही संकल्प".
