PR No. 83 - INDIAN RAILWAYS IS OPERATING 6369 SPECIAL TRIPS TO ENSURE SMOOTH AND COMFORTABLE TRAVEL FOR THE PASSENGERS DURING THIS SUMMER SEASON

Total 380 Special Trains are making 6369 Trips with over 80 thousand coaches

Indian Railways is running 1770 more trips this year as compared to total summer special trains (4599 trips by 348 trains) run in 2022

During this summer season this year, for the convenience of railway travelers and to clear extra rush of passengers, Indian Railways is running 6369 trips of 380 special trains. Indian Railways is running 1770 morr trips this year as compared to total summer special trains (4599 trips by 348 trains) run in 2022. While an average 13.2 trips per train was run in last summer, 16.8 trips per special train are being made in the current year. The major destinations connected are Patna-Secunderabad, Patna-Yesvantpur, Barauni-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Patna, New Delhi-Katra, Chandigarh-Gorakhpur, Anand Vihar- Patna, Visakhapatnam-Puri-Howrah, Mumbai-Patna, Mumbai-Gorakhpur.

In totality, these 380 special trains making 6369 trips have 25794 General Coaches and 55243 Sleeper Coaches. General Coaches have a capacity of 100 passenger whereas Sleeper Coaches have a capacity of 72 passengers in ICF and 78 in LHB.

In order to cater the summer rush, all the zonal Railways spread across the country have geared up to run special trips. Through these special trains, connectivity from various states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi is being ensured. South Western Railway catering to majorly Karnataka region is running maximum trips 1790 this summer season in comparison to 779 trips last year whereas Western Railway catering majorly to the state of Gujarat has also geared up to run 1470 trips in comparison to 438 trips last year. It is also pertinent to mention that this year, South Central Railway is running 784 trips which is 80 trips more than the last year. To deal with the heavy rush in northern part of the country, North Western Railway is running 400 trips, East Central Railway is running 380 trips. Northern Railway has also planned to run 324 trips this year.

However, neither the number of trains nor the number of trips run by specific special train(s) is static for the entire season. Planning and running of special trains is a continuous process for which inputs are taken from all the communication channels 24x 7 like media reports, Social media platforms, Railway Integrated helpline number 139, apart from details of waitlist passengers in PRS system to assess demand of trains o­n a particular route. Based o­n this requirement, number of trains and number of trips are augmented.

A watch o­n any malpractices – like cornering of seats, over-charging and touting activity etc. is being kept by the team of commercial and RPF Staff.

In order to carry out the work of launching of PSC slab at Bridge No. 88 between Virar – Vaitarna section, blocks will be taken. The block will be from 00.40 hrs to 05.10 hrs o­n the intervening night of 27th/28th May, 2023. Due to this block, few Western Railway trains will be partially cancelled, short terminated, rescheduled & regulated, and o­ne passenger train will remain cancelled.

According to a press release issued by Public Relations Department of Western Railway, the details of these trains are as under:

Cancellation of Trains:

1.Train No. 09089 Virar – Sanjan Passenger of 28th May, 2023 will remain cancelled.

Partial Cancellation of Trains:

1.Train No. 19101 Virar - Bharuch ­Express, will be partially cancelled between Virar & Palghar.

2.Train No. 09080 Surat - Virar MEMU of 27th, May 2023 will short terminated at Palghar and remain partially cancelled between Palghar and Virar stations.

Rescheduling of Trains:

1.Train No. 12927 Dadar – Ekta Nagar – Dadar Express of 27th, May 2023 will be rescheduled by 04.10 hrs Ex Dadar.

2.Train No. 12298 Pune - Ahmedabad Duronto Express of 27th, May 2023 will be rescheduled by 04.00 hrs Ex Pune.

3.Train No. 22923 Bandra Terminus – Jamnagar Humsafar Express of 27th, May 2023 will be rescheduled by 04.00 hrs Ex Bandra Terminus.

4.Train No. 19019 Bandra Terminus – Haridwar Dehradun Express of 28th, May 2023 will be rescheduled by 04.20 hrs Ex Bandra Terminus.

5.Train No. 19003 Bandra Terminus – Bhusaval Khandesh Express of 28th, May 2023 will be rescheduled by 04.30 hrs Ex Bandra Terminus.

Regulation of Trains:

1.Train No. 19038 Barauni – Bandra Terminus Avadh Express will be regulated by 1.35 hrs.

2.Train No. 11087 Veraval – Pune Express will be regulated by 1.35 hrs.

3.Train No. 22946 Okha – Mumbai Central Saurashtra Mail will be regulated by 1.30 hrs.

4.Train No. 22904 Bhuj – Bandra Terminus AC Superfast Express will be regulated by 01.20 hrs.

5.Train No. 12940 Jaipur – Pune Express will be regulated by 01.20 hrs.

6.Train No. 22928 Ahmedabad – Bandra Terminus Lok Shakti Express will be regulated by 01.30 hrs.

7.Train No. 19218 Veraval – Bandra Terminus Express will be regulated by 1.25 hrs.

8.Train No. 12928 Ekta Nagar – Dadar Express will be regulated by 01.30 hrs.

9.Train No. 22944 Indore – Daund Express will be regulated by 1.20 hrs.

10.Train No. 14701 Shri Ganganagar – Bandra Terminus Amrapura Aravali Express will be regulated by 01.05 hrs.

11.Train No. 12902 Ahmedabad – Dadar Superfast Express will be regulated by 01.00 hrs.

12.Train No. 12962 Indore – Mumbai Central Avantika Express will be regulated by 01.00 hrs.

13.Train No. 12956 Jaipur – Mumbai Central Superfast Express will be regulated by 00.45 mins.

14.Train No. 14707 Bikaner – Dadar Ranakpur Express will be regulated by 00.45 mins.

15.Train No. 09052 Bhusaval – Mumbai Central Special will be regulated by 01.20 hrs.
