Special Night Traffic Block between Sanpada/Juinagar and Turbhe

Central Railway Mumbai Division will operate special night traffic and power blocks for de-launching of existing Pre-stressed Concrete FOB  girder for widening of existing Road over bridge using 800 MT road crane.  The details are as under:

On 10/11.06.2022 (Friday/Saturday Night) and 11/12.06.2022 (Saturday/Sunday Night) from 11.30 PM to 06.30 AM o­n Nerul/Vashi- Kopar Khairane Section

Down Transharbour line services for Vashi/Nerul/Panvel leaving Thane from 11.09 PM to 05.53 AM and Up Transharbour services leaving Vashi/Nerul/Panvel for Thane leaving Vashi from 11.09 PM to 06.02 AM will remain cancelled

Passengers are requested to bear with the railway administration for the inconvenience caused due to these infrastructure blocks.

Central Railway Mumbai Division records best ever container loading in April 2020 in last 94 months

 

The advent of Covid-19 pandemic in India and subsequent lockdown to arrest the spread of the coronavirus has threatened the supply chain of essential items across our nation. Indian Railways which always serves our country during every national disaster or calamity carried essential commodities including food grains and medicine across our nation during the lockdown, supplementing the Government's all-out efforts in mitigating the adverse impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Central Railway continued to operate freight services, carrying wagon loads of goods, ran special parcel trains to ensure the supply chains of essential goods are maintained besides ensuring that farm produce is transported without hindrance within the country.

 

Mumbai Division of Central Railway rose to the challenge and loaded 805 rakes containing 1,061 wagons with an average loading of 20.1 rakes per day to send the essential commodities to different parts of the country. At the same time, 713 rakes were unloaded to cater to the needs of common man, industries & infrastructure projects at the rate of 17.8 rakes per day.

 

The mammoth handling of freight and parcel movement was a great challenge and an efficient managerial skill to mobilize staff and their optimum utilization, was ably executed by team Mumbai. The silent warriors of Operating Department like Chief Yard Masters/Yard masters, Station Managers, Pointsmen, Porters, Traffic Inspectors, Divisional Traffic Controller, Controller and staff of all departments working in control room of Mumbai Division have been working silently during this difficult time and played a vital role in ensuring smooth movement of freight and parcel traffic.

 

One such warrior is Shri Vilas V. Pagare, Chief Yard Master, Mulund Container Terminal continuously worked at the terminal staying there from 23rd March to 22nd April 2020 o­n his 'own will' during lockdown period to handle the growing number of freight trains loading and unloading at the terminal. During that time, he handled placing of 40 rakes, its deformation, loading & unloading, reformation. Shri Pagare after serving for 35 years with Central Railway retired o­n 30th April 2020. Even at the fag end of his carrier, he displayed zeal, a great commitment and passion to his work stayed at the terminal leaving his family for almost a month aiding the supply of essential goods to citizens, thus proved to be a great warrior during this time.

 

 

 

Container Operations

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Rail Terminal

At Jawaharlal Nehru Port, the lockdown created a pendency of 8,000 containers daily as no container operators were lifting the containers, then Mumbai Division, with the efficient operating officers at helm, took up this challenge and evacuated the containers and brought down the pendency to 3,705 as o­n 30th April 2020.

 

842 container wagons were loaded daily during the month of April 2020 steering it as the BEST EVER DURING LAST 94 MONTHS. Mumbai Division o­n an average placed 21.7 Rakes for loading at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

 

In the month of April 2020 Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) handled 498 container trains which is the highest ever handled in a particular month. The rail coefficient during the month of April 2020 increased to 22.39 % against the corresponding month average of 16.04% last year.

 

Turbhe Container Terminal, proving to be the supplier of food grains, salt and milk to Mumbai City and its Suburbs as a hub for both inward and outward movement of essential commodities shown 2.2 times increase in average loading/unloading.

 

Mulund Container Terminal, an extended gate facility for evacuation of import containers of Jawaharlal Port Terminal, has handled 56 rakes with an average of 1.86 rakes per day showing an increase of 3.8 times as compared to the average trains handled in the year 2019-20.

 

Dronagiri Container Terminal, in Jawaharlal Nehru Port handled 46 rakes with an average 1.5 rakes per day, an increase of about 1.8 times during the lockdown period as compared to the average trains handled in the year 2019-20.

 

Apart from these, the Operating Department of Mumbai Division of Central Railway has handled 315 trains for movement of import containers of Container Corporation of India from JNPT to various hinterlands showing an increase of 75% in loading in April 2020 as compared to March 2020. As an Interchange, Mumbai division o­n a day today basis also handled an average 21.2 freight trains taken over and 21.5 freight trains handed over during the lockdown period. In addition to all the above 185 Parcel trains were run Up & Dn during the lockdown period till end of April 2020.

 

The above achievements of Mumbai Division was possible due to the coordinated and conscientious effort of all the stakeholders which includes the management & workforce of all the Port Terminals, Railways & Train Operators (both CONCOR & Private).
