East Coast Railway General Manager Shri Manoj Sharma today reviewed the progress of Redevelopment of Railway Stations under ECoR jurisdiction with the concerned officials at ECoR HQs at Rail Sadan, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
Hon’ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw is giving priority for the Development of Railway infrastructure of the region along with various project works going in Odisha and also is monitoring the developmental works regularly.
Keeping in view the above, East Coast Railway General Manager Shri Sharma reviewed the progress of Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar New, Puri, Cuttack Stations over East Coast Railway jurisdiction.
Shri Sharma also advised concerned officials to speed up the ongoing work and also speed up the process for tendering and architectural planning to improve the overall aesthetic look of the Stations and to focus for the speedy completion of projects.
Shri Sharma further advised officials to work with proper coordination with the all agencies from the grassroots to short-out issues raised during construction of public centric projects and further emphasised upon early completion of targeted works.
Foundation Work for redevelopment of Puri Station has already been started. Shops, Enquiry Counter relocation at Bhubaneswar Station have been completed for redevelopment work. Similarly, Soil investigation is going on for construction of redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station. Apart from this, the plan for redevelopment of Bhubaneswar New Station is under finalisation.

Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji in his visit to Odisha today (26th November, 2022) reviewed the ongoing Railway projects and traffic facility works with the General Manager and other Principal Heads of the Departments of East Coast Railway at ECoR headquarters at Rail Sadan, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
As the projects in the State are being given priority for speedy construction work and early completion; Shri Vaishnaw advised Railway Officials to expedite the construction work so that the ongoing works will be completed at the earliest. He also advised Railway officials to remain constant touch and coordination with all agencies including State Government Officials, to complete the projects at the earliest.
Later Shri Vaishnaw participated in the Odisha Nirman Conclave-2022 and informed about the transformation in Indian Railways with multiple vision, new innovation, early completion of projects, port connectivity etc.
Informing the media, Shri Vaishnaw said that; before 2014, Odisha was getting merely 830Cr budgetary allocation. In the current year, Odisha got about 10 thousand Crores budgetary allocation, which is much more than the expectations. He also informed that, mere 20 to 25 Kms of Rail Line was being developed in the State before 2014. Last year, about 180 KMs of rail line was completed in the State and this year about 550 Kms of Rail Line will be developed. This indicates the huge change in Odisha in the field of Railway development.
Shri Vaishnaw also informed that, 28 Stations have been planned to be redeveloped, where Tender process completed and works going on at 28 Stations. He also informed that Odisha will also get Vande Bharat Express, very soon. Apart from this, 5G Connectivity in the State will be provided very soon.
Apart from this, Shri Vaishnaw also informed that, Railway is planning to run Jagannath Circuit Train before Rath Yatra which will showcase the great Culture, Heritage and History of Lord Jagannath and Odisha.
