Kolkata, March 8, 2023: As a part of Eastern Railway’s continuous endeavor to restrict pollution for a sustainable environment Malda Division has taken various steps to tackle/reduce pollution at the Goods Sheds/Sidings. A total of 10 goods sheds/sidings viz Barharwa, Bakudi, Sakrigali, Karamtola, Rajmahal, Maharajpur, Taljhari, Mirzachowki, Tinpahar and Sahibganj are marked for developing a green environment. Various efforts are being made on many fronts towards achieving a cleaner and greener environment by reducing the carbon footprint. To suppress fugitive emissions, 2 water mist sprinkler machines have already been commissioned at Sakrigali and Sahibganj sidings. Tender has also been floated regarding the installation of more water mist sprinklers on the remaining 08 sidings, which will be opened shortly. Apart from this, Malda Division has planned to plant around 5000 saplings to develop green belt around the siding. A massive tree plantation program was also organized by Malda Division and innumerable trees were planted at Sahibganj and Sakrigali Good Shed/ Sidings. A total of 10 good sheds/sidings in Sahibganj district will be painted green to indicate ER intitiatives for ‘Go Green’. Moreover, following provisions have been planned by the Malda Division to combat air pollution at the Goods Shed/Sidings: 1. Provision of 20 ft high boundary wall. 2. Tree plantation in three layers along with fencing. 3. Drainage system with rain water harvesting. 4. Provision of PM 10 analyzer (Continuous Air Particulate Monitoring system) at the Sidings. For these works, a total of Rs 11crore has already been sanctioned. As a part of continuous endeavour to provide a green environment Malda division has taken all preventive measures to arrest the pollution at goods sheds/sidings. 2

Kolkata, February 12, 2023: Union Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has recently mentioned about the launching of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for bringing all facilities under one roof at the station area which envisages multi-modal integration, improvement of building and integration of the station with both sides of the city, so that the Railway stations can serve the passengers with world class facilities and amenities. Presently, the scheme covers 1275 stations for upgradation/modernization over Indian Railways. Under this scheme, 94 stations in West Bengal, 86 in Bihar & 57 stations in Jharkhand are earmarked for development out of which 60 stations are in Eastern Railway network. In Eastern Railway a total of 60 stations have been earmarked for development as Amrita Bharat station . The scheme aims at preparation of Master Plans of the Railway stations and implementation of the master plan in phases to enhance the facilities to maximum extent , creation of Roof Plazas and even transforming Railway stations as City Centres in long run. The following 38 stations in West Bengal under ER are earmarked for development: 1) Burdwan, 2) Rampurhat, 3) Bolpur, 4) Nabadwipdham, 5) Khagraghat Road, 6) Katwa, 7) Tarakeswar, 8) Seoraphuli, 9) Bally, 10) Azimganj Jn., 11) Dankuni, 12) Sainthia, 13) Chandannagar, 14) Ambika Kalna, 15) Sealdah, 16) Krishnanagar, 17) Kalyani, 18) Shantipur, 19) Canning, 20) Chandpara, 21) Sonarpur, 22) Berhampore Court, 23) Bethuadahari, 24) Bangaon, 25) Kalyani Ghoshpara, 26) Naihati, 27) Barrackpore, 28) Dum Dum Jn., 29) Gede, 30) Malda Town, 31) New Farakka, 32) Dhulianganga, 33) Jangipur Road, 34) Andal, 35) Sitarampur, 36) Pandabeswar, 37) Siuri & 38) Panagarh. The following 10 stations in Bihar under ER are earmarked for development: 1) Jamalpur, 2) Sultanganj, 3) Kahalgaon, 4) Pirpainti, 5) Sabour, 6) Banka, 7) Munger, 8) Shivnarayanpur, 9) Godda & 10) Simultala. The following 12 stations in Jharkhand under ER are earmarked for development: 1) Pakur, 2) Sahibganj, 3) Rajmahal, 4) Deoghar, 5) Madhupur, 6) Basukinath, 7) Dumka, 8) Sankarpur, 9) Jamtara, 10) Vidyasagar, 11) Kumardhubi & 12) Giridih. Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisages development of stations on a continuous basis with a long-term approach. It involves preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at the stations such as improvement of accessibility to stations, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators as necessary, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks/stalls for selling local products through schemes like ‘One Station one Product’, better passenger information system, Executive Lounges, banquet halls for business meetings, landscaping etc. keeping in view the necessity at each station. The scheme also envisages improvement of station buildings, integrating the station with both sides of the city, multi-modal integration, amenities for Divyangjans, sustainable and environment friendly solutions, provision of ballast less tracks, Roof Plazas as per requirement etc. |
