SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Press Release No. 169 Dt. 16.08.2019 DEMONSTRATION BY CIVIL DEFENCE VOLUNTEERS OF SWR South Western Railway Civil Defence Orgaisation, conducted a live demonstration and mock drill at Railway Supervisors Rest House, Tungabhadra, near Hubballi Railway station. This was conducted on the eve of completion of Civil Defence Intensive/Refresher Training Course from 09-08-2019 to 15-08-2019. The trained contingent of Civil Defence trained Railway staff have participated in Independence Day celebrations of SWR also. In the current batch 60 number of Railway staff were imparted training of Civil defence, which is highest in a single batch so far in the history of South Western Railway. The trained volunteers displayed various methods of providing first aid, rescuing injured persons from high rise buildings, extinguishing fires of different types. Rescue methods for saving people in emergency situations in natural and manmade disasters were demonstrated. Civil Defence Organization in Railways trains employees who volunteered, to provide immediate assistance for handling emergencies and calamities and imparts necessary skills for the same. These volunteers are trained in rescue, protective, control and restorative measures. Volunteers so trained can minimize the adverse effects of calamities by saving men and materials. Their skills will come in handy to maintain the running of trains and restoring normalcy in catastrophes. This demonstration was conducted under the leadership of Shri V. V. Marathe, Senior Civil Defence Inspector/HQ of SWR/Hubballi. Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager, South Western Railway & Chief Guest of the function congratulated all the members who had undergone training appreciated the enthusiasm displayed by the SWR Civil Defence Personnel. He said that the spirit of selfless service of Civil Defence shall be emulated by all. He said that this training develops spirit of team working and also quick response learnt by members will help them in their duties. He urged that more railway employees shall undergo Civil Defence Training. General Manager appreciated the commendable work by SWR Civil Defence Personal during the recent floods at Hole Alur, Belgaum and neighbouring areas etc. Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager, South Western Railway gave away awards to the Civil Defence Instructors Shri P. Panindranath, Shri Manjunath B. Shetty & Shri Sunny J. Dhavale and C. D. Volunteers Shri S. Prabakaran and Shri Damodar Naik for their dedicated work during this year. Shri B. B. दकà¥à¤·à¤¿à¤£à¤ªà¥‚रà¥à¤µà¤°à¥‡à¤²à¤µà¥‡ SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY पà¥à¤°à¥‡à¤¸à¤µà¤¿à¤œà¥à¤žà¤ªà¥à¤¤à¤¿ PRESS RELEASE NEW LANDING AT EXISTING FOOT OVER BRIDGE AT SANTRAGACHI STATION Kolkata, 10th December, 2018: With a view to avoid crowding of passengers at Foot Over Bridge of Santragachi station, one additional landing of the existing Foot Over Bridge has been constructed at the station on war footing as per instructions of General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri P.S. Mishra. The new landing has been inaugurated today by one of the senior most passengers, Sri Manindra Sarkar and has been opened for the commuters. The work has been completed in a record time of just one month. The new landing has been constructed at the Kona Expressway side, which is used by maximum number of passengers coming to and from Kolkata. Earlier, there was only one & same entry and exit steps for the passengers. Now the newly constructed landing facility will enhance the separate exit and separate entry of the passengers to avoid heavy rush at highly Populated Santragachi Station. This landing with fully metalised rust proof structure will help in better dispersal of passengers from Santragachi station. Apart from this, the work of one additional Foot Over Bridge at Santragachi Station is going on in full swing and is targeted to be commissioned by 31st January, 2019. .....
