Continuing the record electrification achieved during the first nine months of the current financial year, South Central Railway has achieved o­ne more mile stone by completing Vikarabad – Parli Vaijnath electrification project. The final stretch of the project between Latur Road – Parli Vaijnath for a distance of 63.75 Route Kms has been commissioned, marking the completion of the entire project. With this, the entire section of 268 Rkms covering around 90 Kms of Telangana, 62 Kms of Karnataka and 116 Kms of Maharashtra states now stands electrified.

Vikarabad - Parli Vaijnath electrification project was sanctioned in the year 2018-19 at an estimated cost of Rs 244 Crores for a distance of 268 Rkms. The stretch between Vikarabad – Kohir Deccan (for a distance of 45 Kms) has been commissioned in March, 2021 and the stretch between Kohir Deccan – Khanapur (for a distance of 60.5 Kms) was completed in January, 2022. Later, 98.75 Rkms stretch between Khanapur - Latur Road was electrified in October, 2022. Now, the last stretch of the project i.e., between Latur Road – Parli Vaijnath for 63.75 Rkms Electrification has been completed. The trains in the entire section can now be operated with electric traction o­n end to end basis. This is o­ne of the important sections handling trains between Southern part of India and towards Aurangabad, Shirdi and Pune among others.

To achieve “Mission Electrification”, the electrification of the railway lines is being done o­n war footing basis to complete 100% electrification of SCR network. Electrification of railway lines will pave the way for environment friendly means of transportation by replacing Diesel traction with electric traction. It also helps in seamless movement of freight and passenger traffic, besides reducing the enroute detentions. The fuel expenditure will be drastically reduced by reducing Diesel consumption.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR has complimented the officials of Electrical wing of both Headquarters and Secunderabad Division for completing the entire Vikarabad – Parli electrification project within stipulated time. The General Manager has expressed his satisfaction with the way the electrification works are progressing across the Zone, which have earned a great reputation at National level.

South Central Railway is completing electrification works o­n war footing basis, giving a major boost to “Mission electrification”. In this regard, a huge stretch of 98.7 Route Kms electrification has been completed at o­ne go between Khanapur - Latur Road stations covering both Karnataka & Maharashtra states. This section is completed as part of Vikarabad - Parli Vaijnath electrification project. With this, a continuous stretch of 204 Rkms stands electrified between Vikarabad - Latur Road.

The stretch between Khanapur - Latur Road for a distance of 98.7 RKms is part of Vikarabad - Parli Vaijnath electrification project, which was sanctioned in the year 2018-19 at an estimated cost of Rs 262 Crores for a distance of 269 Rkms. While, the stretch between Vikarabad – Kohir Deccan (for a distance of 45 Kms) has been commissioned in March, 2021, the stretch between Kohir Deccan – Khanapur (for a distance of 60.4 Kms) is completed in January, 2021.Out of the present stretch of 98.7 Rkms electrification which is completed, 46.8 Kms is in Maharashtra and 51.9 Kms falls in Karnataka. The trains originating and terminating from Latur Road & Bidar towards Southern direction can now run with electric traction, which will help in seamless transportation. The Works in the remaining stretch i.e., Latur Road - Parli Vaijnath is in fast progress.

The electrification of these railway lines will significantly strengthen Rail infrastructure in the state of Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra state and provide seamless movement of freight and passenger traffic, besides reducing the enroute detentions. Electrification of railway lines in these sections immensely benefit the Railways by reducing the fuel expenditure, while also being environment friendly, as it reduces the emission of carbon foot prints.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager Incharge, SCR expressed his happiness o­n completion of electrification works of a single long stretch at o­ne go. He complimented the officials of Electrical wing of both Headquarters and Division for completing the project works. The General Manager has stated that, the electrification works are being carried out o­n large scale in different sections of the Zone so that the set targets can be achieved within the specified time.
