Arjuna Award for Central Railway’s Olympic Hockey Players Ms. Monika Malik & Ms. Vandana Katariya.

Central Railway’s Olympic Hockey Players Ms. Monika Malik & Ms. Vandana Katariya will receive the prestigious Arjuna Award for their excellent performance during the recently held Olympic Games at Tokyo, Japan.

Ms. Monika Malik, worked as Head TC, Mumbai Division of Central Railway presently promoted as Officer o­n Special Duty,  was part of Indian Women’s Hockey Team that played fabulously in Tokyo Olympic 2020 to secure a place in the Semi-Finals. Ms. Monika made her second consecutive Olympic appearance after Rio Olympics 2016. She has made India & Central Railway proud through her sincerity and hard work that has brought laurels in the recent Olympics.

Ms. Vandana Katariya, worked as Head TC, Mumbai Division of Central Railway presently promoted as Officer o­n Special Duty, was part of Indian Women’s Hockey Team has the distinction of the o­nly women who scored Hat-Trick in field Hockey at any Olympic Games. Ms. Vandana an astute player, very speedy scored hat-trick against South Africa. Her contribution as an agile player was instrumental in taking India to the Semi-Finals.

Four Women Hockey Players from Central Railway namely Ms. Sushila Chanu, Ms. Vandana Katariya, Ms. Monika Malik and Ms. Rajini Etimarpu represented India at Tokyo Olympics 2020. All these four Hockey Players previously working as Head Ticket Checkers have been promoted to Gazetted Officers by Central Railway recognizing their remarkable contribution in taking Indian Women Hockey Team to the semi-final for the first time in Olympic Games.

Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway said “Central Railway always encourages their sportspersons to set high standard & supporting them in every step of the way, the performance of all four Women Hockey Players at Tokyo Olympics to take India to Semi-Final elucidates that.”

According to Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports release, Ms. Monica Malik & Ms. Vandana Katariya will receive the prestigious Arjuna Award at the hands of President of India at a function to be organized at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan o­n 13th November, 2021 at 4.30 pm.

General Manager, Central Railway Hoists the National Flag o­n the occasion of 75th Independence Day Celebrations

 

Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway hoisted the national flag o¬n the occasion of 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Central Railway headquarters, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai o¬n 15.8.2021.

 

Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti while addressing the gathering conveyed the wishes and Independence Day greetings said that it has been more than a year and a half since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease which enormously impacted the lives and also the country’s economic growth.  Despite facing another severe wave of the coronavirus pandemic, railway staff have responded to the crisis very well and have worked with utmost diligence and commitment and even went beyond the call of duty.

 

He also said it is a matter of pride for Central Railway that Shri M.K. Mishra, Inspector RPF, Balharshah, Shri. S.P. Shinde, Inspector RPF, Pune and Shri  B.D. Sagar, Sub-Inspector, RPF Pune are honoured by Police Medal for their exemplary services o­n the occasion of Independence Day 2021.

 

The General Manager also said that Central Railway is proud of the women hockey players Ms. Vandana Katariya, Ms. Sushila Chanu, Ms.  Monika and Ms. E. Rajni who represented the Indian hockey team at Tokyo Olympics and secured fourth place, their best-ever finish in Olympics.  He also congratulated Ms. Vandana Katariya who became the first Indian woman to score a hat trick in hockey at the Olympics.

 

Smt. Menu Lahoti, President Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation donated kitchen equipment to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Railway Hospital, Byculla. Earlier, Information Display System at the foyer, CR-DR system in Radiology Department, Laboratory equipment, patient bed-lift, RT-PCR laboratory-Molecular laboratory and other equipment were also inaugurated

 

On this occasion, a cultural programme “Tiranga Hamara – A Swarnim Gatha” was presented by Central Railway Cultural Academy.

 

The Independence Day celebrations was organised following social distancing norms. The programme was webcast o­n You Tube and Facebook live.
