HOWRAH DIVISION SCALED THE NEW HEIGHT OF FREIGHT BUSINESS IN 2021-22

Kolkata, April 1, 2022

In the Financial Year 2021-22, Howrah division has scripted a new narrative of growth. Freight business of 18.910 MT has scaled the historical high, it has registered the astounding growth of 56.5% as Year-On-Year basis. In the year 2021- 22, for the first time Coal Traffic has touched the two digit mark of 10.130 MT which has shown the clear growth of 119% than the Coal loading of 2020-21. Division has bagged the additional Coak traffic of 75 Rakes from Janai coal siding.

Stone Traffic from new Goods Sheds named Chatra and Harinsingh has opened the avenue of incremental Stone Traffic. 8.245 MT Stone Traffic in 2021-22 has also won the glory of all time high Stone loading, since the inception of the division. Outward Stone traffic has jumped in 2021-22 by 15.3% than the year ago.

Loading of Food Grains and Cement from Ultra Tech Cement siding has also outnumbered all the previous records. Sheer competitive attitude and aggressive marketing has helped to capture additional traffic which had earlier within the fold of Roadways. Division has added new traffic like Iron and Steel and Sand to the varied Freight Basket.

The glorious record which has already been set will be the source of inspiration for forthcoming 2022-23. It is pertinent to mention here that, the freight loading target of Howrah division was revised upwards during the course of the year from 17.74 MT to 18.75 MT to make it even steeper. Nevertheless, the division has managed to surpass the increased goal with ease.

CUMULATIVE FREIGHT LOADING OF HOWRAH DIVISION GOES BEYOND THE PREVIOUS YEAR

Kolkata, February 24, 2022:


      On 21.02.22, Howrah Division has surpassed the record of hitherto highest ever freight loading, i.e., 16.710 MT in F.Y 2009-10. Cumulative freight loading till date of the current F.Y is 16.722 MT with 38 more days to go for reaching the end of the Financial Year. The freight business of the current F.Y has outmatched all previous records. Howrah Division has also registered the record volume Coal loading. 
The Team Business Development Unit (BDU) of Howrah Division has proved it’s competence in bringing new business by showing sheer competitive attitude. Intensive interactions with the merchants and prospective customers have helped to convince them to have the experience of ease of business with Railway. It lays the path of getting record volume of Food Grains traffic in the o­ngoing Fiscal Year.

    Freight business had specially gained the momentum in last F.Y in which loading was jumped to 12.080 MT.  Opening of new Goods Shed at Chatra and Harinsingha Stations added volume to the Stone Traffic. Gradual enhancement of coal loading from West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited, Pakur Siding has made it possible to reach the highest ever level of freight loading.
