B R SINGH HOSPITAL & OTHER DIVISIONAL HOSPITALS SPHEREHEADING FIGHT AGAINST COVID PANDEMIC Kolkata, May 19, 2021: Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a meeting through video conferencing with the Divisional Railway Managers, Principal Heads of Departments and Chief Works Managers at Eastern Railway Headquarters, Fairlie Place on 18.5.2021. Shri Aneet Dulat, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway was also present in the meeting. In the meeting, issues related to COVID care management in the awake of 2nd wave of corona virus, freight loading, timely completion of FOB, Lifts & Escalators and even better passenger amenity works were deliberated upon in detail. 1.All efforts put in during last few weeks are now bearing fruits so far as critical care treatment in hospitals are concerned. Shri Joshi expressed his satisfaction over augmentation of hospital beds, oxygen pipelines, ventilators in B R Singh Hospital and other Divisional Railway Hospitals. It is stated that the total strength of doctors including specialists in B R Singh Hospital is 199. There are 579 nurses and 221 paramedical staff. 2.More doctors, specialists, paramedical staff are being engaged urgently on contract basis at B R Singh Hospital and other Railway Hospitals. Laboratory and X-Ray facilities are made available round the clock. Backup oxygen cylinders are available in huge number which amounts to 1730 as on date. 3.In B R Singh Hospital, almost all hospital beds are now oxygen pipeline connected. There are 75 oxygen concentrators available at B R Singh Hospital which facilitate patients to a great extent during respiratory problem. 4.27 more ventilators & 21 more ECG machines are going to be installed at B R Singh Hospital shortly. 5.In an endeavour to provide more effective treatment. There are sufficient stock of Remdisivir injection and other essential medicines at the hospital. 6.B R Singh & Asansol Divisional Hospitals are gearing up for more RT-PCR test towards COVID detection. 7.A policy decision has been taken by the Railway to install liquid medical oxygen plants at all hospitals under its jurisdiction at the earliest. 8.For the sake of lesser critical patients, a new fully equipped COVID care management centre will be opened at Majerhat by this week. 9.Eastern Railway is all set to operationalise 26 vaccination centres throughout the Zone very shortly. 10.Shri Joshi has inaugurated on 18.5.2021 an Android mobile app developed by Sealdah Division for B R Singh Hospital. This app will be available in Google Play Store which will facilitate issue of token for outdoor patients, booking of doctors appointment 15 days in advance for better crowd management at hospitals and easy consultancy for patients. Shri Joshi has thanked all Railway hospitals and medical fraternity for rendering wonderful service for COVID patients during the unprecedented crisis of pandemic. 11.Discussing other items, Shri Joshi has said that the imposition of partial lockdown is another area of challenge that Railway is facing. It has to be ensured that the system must run smoothly. 12.Shri Joshi has cautioned that incident of asset failure should be properly looked into and the problem should be suitably addressed. 13.As on date, freight loading of ER is more than 4.5 metric tonnes higher than the corresponding period of the last year. Shri Joshi has complimented the wonderful work of the construction department in completion of different ongoing works. 14.He has laid special stress on completion of all pending construction works including construction of FOBs, lifts, escalators within prescribed time frame. 15.It is stated that ongoing safety drives in ER has been completed successfully. Moreover, during last week, ER has managed to achieve 95% punctuality in running trains. Lastly, Shri Joshi laid special stress on even better maintenance of passenger amenities at station premises and in trains so that a feel good feeling can be created among the passengers.
