SHRI BABUL SUPRIYO, HON’BLE MINISTER OF STATE FOR ENVIRONMENT, FOREST & CLIMATE CHANGE, GOVT. OF INDIA LAID FOUNDATION STONE FOR TWO LIFTS AT BALLY GHAT RAILWAY STATION Kolkata, February 17, 2021: Shri Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India laid the foundation stone for two lifts at Bally Ghat Railway station in presence of Smt. Baishali Dalmia, Hon’ble MLA today (17.2.2021). The total cost of the project is ₹. 80 lakhs (approx.). It is stated that with laying of foundation stone of two lifts at Bally Ghat station, long standing aspirations of the passengers commuting through Bally Ghat station has been fulfilled. The lifts are going to be installed at Up & Down platforms in high bank including intermediate approach from booking office to down platform side at Bally Ghat station. Bally Ghat station has a record footfall of 8500 commuters on an average per day. Strategically this station is located in such a place that it serves as transit for the people crossing Hooghly river to access Dakshineswar, Baranagar, Dum Dum, Bidhannagar Road, Sealdah etc. Similarly, people from east side of the river Hooghly may can access Belur, Bally, Liluah and other places of Howrah area through this station. These lifts will enable the commuters specially senior citizens, ladies, divyangjan to easily reach the platform of the Bally Ghat station from the GT Road passing under Dum Dum – Dankuni section. Both the lifts are designed with high end technology with latest specification and modern facilities.
