General Manager awarded 05 railway staff of NCR for extraordinary commitment towards safety

On 10.05.2022, General Manager, North Central Railway, Shri Pramod Kumar conferred awards to staff for their alertness and contribution towards safety in train operations in the presence of PHOD’s  of North Central Railway. 05 Railway staff were conferred with Safety awards by the General Manager o­n the occassion. Awarded employees include  Shri Akhilesh Verma, Helper/Kanpur, Prayagraj Division, Shri  Dhirendra Pratap, Track Maintainer-II Bharwari, Prayagraj, Shri  Harkesh Meena, Pointsman, Kotra, Jhansi Circle, Shri Mohar Singh, Track Maintainer-I, Agra City/Agra Division and Shri Neeraj, Technician-I/C&W/Agra Cantt, Agra Division.

Shri Neeraj, has been honoured with the Employee of the month of April. Shri Neeraj noticed a crack in the frame of Leading Trolley in Coach No. SR 03246 of Train No. 16788 at Agra Cantt Station o­n 01.04.22. He averted a serious accident by informing all the concerned. He has done commendable work towards his duty along with the safety of the railways.

The General Manager expressed his gratitude to the entire family by sending a congratulatory message to the wife of Shri Neeraj.

RPF/NCR achieved many milestoes during the year 2021-22

733 children, 123 women and 71 men got reunited with families or safely handed over to Child Line

128 persons arrested for Black Marketing of Railway Tickets to ensure smooth availability of valid tickets to passengers

80 persons involved in smuggling of drugs/ banned material arrested

 

The Railway Administration is constantly striving to provide convenient and safe travel to the railway passengers. "Railway Protection Force" acts as the watch dog of Indian Railways and the dedication of Railway Protection Force can be summarised in three words: Suraksha, Satarkata, Sewa. Railway Protection Force (RPF) is entrusted with the responsibility of security of railway property, passenger area, passengers and matters connected therewith.

The Railway Protection Force in North Central Railway works strictly but with soft humane approach. The financial year 2021-22 has been a remarkable year in terms of achievements of the Railway Protection Force. During this time, in order to discharge their responsibilities, along with providing assistance to needy passengers, women and children in need of care and protection have also been rescued. To save his life, risk his life and proceed o­n the path of duty. It is worthy to be informed that RPF Constable Gyanchandra sacrificed his life in an attempt to save the woman who had committed suicide at Bharwari railway station. Late Gyanchand Ex-Head Constable, Railway Protection Force out post Bharwari, North Central Railway, Prayagraj has been posthumously awarded the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Medal by the Hon'ble President.

Apart from this, during the year 2021-22, 733 children (438boys and 295 girls), 123 women and 71 men, found in abandoned condition at various stations and trains, were reunited with their families, or otherwise safely handed over to child line. 395 bags, 195 mobiles, 30 laptops and Rs 5,68,328/- have also been returned to the concerned passengers.

Similarly, to avoid inconvenience to their disabled passengers 12 persons traveling unauthorizedly in Divyang reserved coach were arrested and fined Rs 5,620/-.

 

Strict action has also been taken against the touts for obstructing the smooth availability of valid tickets to the passengers. It is to be known that in the financial year 2021-22, legal action was taken, after arresting 128 persons involved in black marketing of railway tickets.

Apart from this, in order to take action against the criminals, 80 persons involved in the smuggling of drugs/ banned materials were arrested and intoxicants and banned materials worth Rs 39,88,505.94 / - were recovered. 195 criminals involved in crimes related to passengers were also arrested during the year and handed over to Government Railway Police.

In the year 2021-22, 432 people were arrested in cases of theft of railway property and railway property worth Rs 37,19,884/- was recovered from their possession.

Simultaneously, while contributing to the smooth running of rail operations, 3399 persons were arrested for alarm chain pulling and were fined Rs.25,81,411/- by the court. Apart from it, 341 persons were arrested for tampering with equipment related rail operations, o­n which a fine of Rs. 2,07,800/- was imposed by the Court.

 

Contributing to the national campaign of Swachh Bharat, RPF personnel of North Central Railway arrested 1223 persons for littering/nuisance in trains/railway premises during the year and fined Rs.3,55,615/- by court. Went. In the same sequence, 4970 illegal vendors were also arrested, o­n whom a fine of Rs 61,91,478 / - was imposed by the court.

Highlighting these achievements of RPF, General Manager North Central Railway, Shri Pramod Kumar congratulated all RPF personnel for their prompt and diligent efforts and said, “It is through the efforts of the members of this dedicated force that we are able to provide secure travel environment to our passengers. Not o­nly they ensure safe journey, but their sacrifices make us feel proud”.
