SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY COMPLETES SAFETY INSPECTIONS & WORKS; GEARS UP FOR UPCOMING MONSOON SEASON

SWR has carried out all safety-related inspections, and safety works in connection with the preparation for the upcoming monsoon season. This has been done to ensure that loss to Railway property, life and train services can be avoided. Special attention has been paid to Ghat sections in Hubballi (Castle Rock to Kulem) and Mysuru (Sakleshpur to Subrahmanya Road) which witness heavy to very heavy rainfall every monsoon.

All the vulnerable locations have been inspected by the section engineers concerned and precautionary measures have been put in place. Chief Bridge Engineer of SWR, Shri Ramesh Kambli has reviewed the monsoon preparedness in all the 3 Divisions.

ATTENTION TO TRACKS

1.  All Joints have been attended properly, drainage of water from the track area particularly in yards has been ensured to avoid any stagnation of water. All types of drains have been made with proper slopes and clear outlets so that rains may not affect the operation of trains.

2.  The identified vulnerable bridges and locations are provided with name boards at their approaches and arrangements are also made for posting of watchmen. The approaches of girder bridges have also been properly attended.

TRAINING & EDUCATION

1.  Monsoon Patrolling of vulnerable locations has been enhanced. All frontline staff and patrolling gangs have been alerted and sensitised to take all necessary precautions in anticipation of the heavy to very heavy rain. They are equipped with necessary tools and equipments to clear the tracks of obstructing materials. Key locations such as bridge approaches, level crossing approaches, pedestrian crossings have been attended to ensure proper track geometry. Trackmen, Station Staff and frontline staff have been trained and alerted for taking action o­n receiving weather warning messages, sudden storm and rain water level rising near bank or at bridges.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

1.  Sagarkatte Station in Mysuru Division is equipped with Anemometer to monitor wind speeds. There are 13, 15 and 16 stations in Hubballi, Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions respectively where rain gauges are installed to regularly monitor rainfall levels.

2.  Stock of boulders, ballast, sand bags, and quarry dust have kept ready in wagons and stabled near flood prone locations to arrest landslips, breaches, flooding etc (Castle Rock  - 15 wagons and Kulem - 15 wagons over Hubballi division; Sakleshpur – 25 wagons, Chitradurga – 15, Subrahmanya Road – 20 over Mysuru Division).

3.  Accident Relief Train & Accident Relief Medical Van are kept ready at all times with prescribed scale of engineering materials. Road vehicles, motor trolleys are kept in good condition for swift transport of relief materials and men to the site, when needed to ensure quick restoration of train services in the event of disruption.

4.  All track maintainers & frontline staff have been counseled to maintain social distancing, wear face masks and take precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus.

5.  The weather bulletins issued from the India Meteorological Department are being monitored and weather warnings are disseminated in a timely manner to Stations to alert Station Masters, Trackmen, and Engineering Electrical & Signal/Telecom maintenance staff.

Engineering Officials have inspected in detail and taken safety measures to prevent damage to train services, railway property and life. Instructions from Disaster Management plan conveyed to staff at all levels. Close coordination will be maintained with Meteorological Department regarding Monsoon/Weather Warning/Forecasts.

TIMINGS OF 11 MORE SPECIAL TRAINS OVER WR REVISED W.E.F  1ST DECEMBER,2020

Timings of variousfestival & other special trains originating/ terminating over Western Railway have been changed w.e.f. 1st December, 2020. Details of 11 more special trains with revised timings and halts over Western Rly with effect from 1st, 2nd& 3rdDecember, 2020 are given as under:

 

1). Dadar-Bhuj Superfast Special (Daily) :-

09115 Special train will leave Dadar at 15.20 hrs and arrive Bhuj at 06.35 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 2/12/2020. Similarly, 09116 Special train will leave Bhuj at 22.35 hrs and arrive Dadar at 13.55 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. Halts o­n WR : Borivali, Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Ankleshwar, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Dhrangandhra, Samakhiyali & Gandhidham stations.

 

2). Porbandar-Delhi Special (Bi-weekly)

09263 Special train will leave Porbandar at 19.40 hrs and arrive Delhi at 19.30 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. 09264 Special train will leave Delhi at 08.10 hrs and arrive Porbandar at 09.00 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 3/12/2020. Halts o­n WR : Jamnagar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Ambli Road, Mahesana & Palanpur ststations).

 

3). Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Bhopal Special (Daily)

09323 Special train will leave Dr Ambedkar Nagar at 06.15 hrs and reach Bhopal at 10.55 hrs, the same day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. 09324 Special train will leave Bhopal at 17.00 hrs and arrive Dr Ambedkar Nagar at 22.15 hrs, the same day w.e.f. 1/12/2020.Halts o­n WR : Indore, Dewas, Maksi & Shujalpur stations).

 

4). Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Kamakhya Special (Daily)

09305 Special train will leave Dr Ambedkar Nagar at 12.45 hrs and reach Kamakhya at 13.50 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 3/12/2020. 09306 Special train will leave Kamakhya at 05.35 hrs and arrive Dr Ambedkar Nagar at 06.05 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 6/12/2020.Halts o­n WR : Indore, Dewas, Ujjain & Shujalpur stations.

 

5). Indore-Howrah Superfast Special (Tri-weekly)

02911 Special train will leave Indore at 23.30 hrs and arrive Howrah at 06.55 hrs, the third day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. 02912 Special train will leave Howrah at 17.45 hrs and arrive Indore at 00.25 hrs, the third day w.e.f. 3/12/2020. Halts o­n WR : Dewas, Ujjain & Shujalpur stations.

 

6). Mumbai Central-Okha Superfast Special (Daily)

02945 Special train will leave Mumbai Central at 21.15 hrs and reach Okha at 14.55 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. 02946 Special train will leave Okha at 11.05 hrs and arrive Mumbai Central at 04.55 hrs, the next day w.e.f. 1/12/2020. Halts o­n WR : Dadar, Borivali, Palghar, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Khambaliya & Dwarka stations.

02973 Special train will leave Gandhidham at 13.45 hrs and arrive Puri at 08.05 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 2/12/2020. 02974 Special train will leave Puri at 11.10 hrs and arrive Gandhidham at 06.00 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 5/12/2020. Halts o­n WR : Viramgam, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Surat and Nandurbar stations.

 

11)Ahmedabad - Puri Special (4 days a week)

02844 Special train will leave Ahmedabad at 19.00 hrs and arrive Puri at 08.05 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 3/12/2020. 02843 Special train will leave Puri at 17.30 hrs and arrive Ahmedabad at 06.35 hrs, o­n the third day w.e.f. 1/12/2020.
